21 Wild became the target of Soulja Boy's ire while trying to defuse the beef between Drake and producer Metro Boomin.
Kendrick Lamar wasn't the only person Drake had a problem with. There was also tension with Metro Boomin, resulting in the Canadian rapper firing shots at him on diss tracks “Push ups” and “Family Matters.”
In response, non-lyricist Metro Boomin stepped into his production bag, providing the Internet with a free “BBL Drizzy” beat to rap over. He offered the person with the best verse $10,000 and a free beat.
21 Savage, who collaborates with both, told fans during an Instagram Live session that he thought both Drizzy and Metro could move past the beef.
While all of this was happening, fans began to discover old problematic tweets from Metro Boomin, leading to the “Metro Groomin'” trend. Among the old tweets was an obvious shade at Hip-Hop pioneer Soulja Boy.
In the 2012 tweet, Metro wrote: “My phone is ringing to get in the studio with Jeezy. Yours beats to send Soulja Boy a pack of beats. Sit down.”
Of course, Soulja Boy doesn't let anything slide. He warned the producer to remove the post and kept a 2013 Metro receipt in his DMs trying to send him music.
From there, it continued with Soulja Boy jumping on X, ex-Twitter, with some very irreverent rants about Metro's dead mother on Mother's Day.
21 Savage stood up for Metro Boomin
Things got interesting when 21 Savage stood up for his friend, typing “or what?” in response to Big Draco's warning to Metro Boomin, “He had 24 hours to delete this tweet.”
The two tweeted back and forth on social media about where they were originally coming from.
No music came of it, but this is one of those beefs we don't need running into the booth.
They can just let this disagreement go away.
Hip-hop has a real spicy energy for the summer of 2024.
