Four years have passed since then Lady Gaga released her dance-pop symphony in 2020, Chromatica, although this gap may seem like a yawn to some. Between the seismic social change brought on by a global pandemic and a steady, shocking stream of historical events in the months since then, the past four years have felt more like decades.
It's only fitting, then, that Lady Gaga's fans are getting hotter by the minute for her next studio album. The 38-year-old pop superstar packed her schedule after falling Chromatica; embarked on a world tour, released a remix album (Dawn of Color)a second set of jazz standards with the late legend Tony Bennett (Love for sale), made a documentary of her tour (Gaga Chromatica Ball), and starred in two blockbuster films (2021 House of Gucci and the upcoming 2024 film Joker: Folie à Deux).
But it looks like, after nearly half a decade away, Mother Monster is ready to give fans some new music. At the end of her Chromatica Ball documentary, Gaga slipped in an 8-second clip of an unreleased song as the words “LG7 GAGA RETURNS” flashed across the screen — referencing her fan acronym for the singer's seventh studio album. In a since-removed interview with Drag Race Starring Sasha Velor for the documentary, Gaga revealed that she's been spending time in the studio lately “making a lot of music,” adding that she was “thrilled that Monsters heard where I'm at right now.” More recently, Gaga gave her French fans a taste of even more new music after her appearance at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, hitting the streets in a limousine and playing two more tracks from her new album.
While Gaga has yet to confirm specific details about the album — there's still no word on a release date, title, or pretty much anything else about the project — Advertising sign decided to make a short wishlist for the highly anticipated LG7. From genre influences to collaborations, here are just a few things we hope to see on Lady Gaga's next studio album:
-
Forget the concept of 'Genre album'
Every time she releases a new album, Gaga proves that she is a master at creating distinct musical eras. Artpop incorporated a much heavier EDM sound than her previous works. Joanna heralded the singer's least favorite change in country. He has even given us two albums of jazz standards. Thanks to this trend, Little Monsters have become accustomed to asking for a “[insert genre here] album' for LG7. Some say they want to see the LP embrace a hard rock sound, while others were hoping for a pure disco album from Mother Monster.
But why limit Gaga? On her unique masterpiece This is how I was born, the genres he used in each piece depended entirely on the emotional undercurrent of what he was writing. Of course, let Gaga do rock, disco, industrial techno and whatever else she wants — as long as the genre fits the entirety of the song she's singing, there should be no limit to the LG7's soundscape.

Book Another A-List Collaboration
Lady Gaga is selective when it comes to featured slots in her projects — since she doesn't do that many collaborations, the star goes out of her way to make them count when she does. Some of her biggest hits (“Shallow,” “Telephone,” and “Rain on Me,” to name a few) came from Gaga's choice of the right partner. So at LG7, we hope to see Gaga continue her hot streak with another culture-shattering collaboration.
Our stadium? If Gaga continues to lean toward the dark pop direction she teased in Paris, then she'll have to tap Kesha for a feature that's been years in the making. Following the release of her criminally underrated album 2023 Gag Order, Kesha is officially an independent artist again. Her latest single 'Joyride', along with the entire Gag Ordershowed that Kesha is ready to play with her sound and take some creative risks — who better to help facilitate that process than Lady Gaga?

Dance some more in the dark
Part of what he made Chromatica what stood out so boldly in 2020 was its stark contrast to our lived reality at the time – while the world felt bleak and colorless in the early days of the pandemic, Gaga's album provided a stark escape with its dance-pop fervor. While we love what Gaga has accomplished Chromatica, we'd like to see the “Stupid Love” singer dive deeper into a darker sound. When you listen again to a work like The fame monsterit's exciting to hear Gaga combine rich pop melodies with eerie, macabre themes — a feeling we feel has been long missing from some of Gaga's recent work.
-
Corral Some New Producers
Despite her reputation as a perennial pop music changer, Gaga has maintained a relatively tight-knit stable of producers around her since her debut in 2008. Working frequently with artists such as RedOne, DJ White Shadow, Mark Ronson and BloodPop, Gaga has found a group of producers who understand her work — and while we don't think she should leave that group entirely, it would be nice to hear another producer's opinion.
There are already rumors that Gaga may have collaborated with techno artist Gesaffelstein on the LG7, which is as fitting a pairing as we can imagine for an industrial-inspired sound. If she really wants to shake things up, we'd like to see Gaga get some of the artists behind her Dawn Colors remix albums — LSDXOXO, Arca, AG Cook and more — and incorporate their experimental flair into the LG7.

Keep it weird
For all the talk of change here, there's one thing we hope remains broadly the same with Gaga's next album: her love of the eccentric. Since the beginning of her career, Gaga has led (and remained) focused on the very concept of non-conformity. He played with meta-narratives about performing fame (a feat that contemporary artists would go on to replicate in their own style more than a decade later). dedicated her work to outcasts, weirdos and “Monsters”. and allowed herself to make music that wasn't dictated by trends, but by what actually interested her.
If there's one thing we can hope for on Gaga's seventh studio album, it's the simple plea that she stays true to the inherent uniqueness that has made her the unique pop icon that she is.
