50 Cent has been one of the biggest names in the rap game for the past 20 years, and during that time he's interacted with (and pissed off) everyone you can think of. He recently opened up about a snappy comment from Dame Dash that seems to have left a sour taste in his mouth and in true Fiddy form, he gets off a bit pedestrian when reflecting on the moment.
In a recent clip making the rounds on social media, 50 Cent sits down with Gillie Da Kid and Wallo for Million Dollaz worth game podcast and recalled a moment after his breakthrough record deal with Shady Records in 2002, in which he was paid a cool million dollars to sign Eminem and Dr. Dre. At the time such a signing bonus was unheard of, but since 50 Cent was the hottest rapper on the free agent market thanks to his mixtape series G-Unit tried to lure him to their labels, but Eminem and Dr. Dre came up with the winning bid.
After signing the deal, 50 Cent distinctly remembers Damon Dash dismissing the amount of money he received as basically chicken feed, and that seems to be something that bothers 50 to this day. Responding to Wallo about how much he was paid to sign to Shady Records, 50 Cent recalled, “A million dollars… and the only person who pointed out that a million dollars wasn't money was Damon Dash and he ain't got no money now.”
So hell, 50. Tell them how you really feel.
Reflecting on Dame 50's comments she continued “I only felt it because she said 'It's not money. After you get your watch, chains, watch out for householders… it's nothing.' And I said, “I'm from 134th Street. B, it's a lot of money. I think I hit the lotto. How can you say it's not money? I just never forgot it because of how it felt.”
While this was a big deal back in 2002, at the time Jay-Z and Damon Dash had the rap game in a choke hold with their Roc-A-Fella Records imprint and were probably making millions of dollars on a weekly basis. Of course, that was just pocket change to someone like Damon Dash.
Unfortunately for Dame, he has since seen his net worth plummet beyond the basement and was recently ordered to sell his stake in Roc-A-Fella Records to satisfy some outstanding debt.
Whether he'll respond to 50 Cent's story is anyone's guess, but we're not sure he'll want to open that can of worms, as we all know Fiddy lives to troll anyone and everyone he feels is out of his pocket.
