The Australian leg of the Eras tour was equally memorable Taylor Swift as it was for the fans.
Just days after closing her last show in Sydney, the 34-year-old pop star showered the hundreds of thousands of Swifties she performed for at Accor Stadium with heartfelt gratitude. Instagram after Wednesday (February 28). “Sydney, Sydney, Sydney, Sydney…” the star began, sharing a carousel of photos of herself and her dancers performing on stage. “What a whirlwind of endless magical moments with you.”
“I'm so grateful that we were the first tour to play at the Accor Stadium 4 times,” he continued. “I'll never forget the song with Sabrina, the chaotic acoustic mashups and the crowds going louder (singing AND screaming) than I thought humanly possible.”
Swift's Feb. 23-26 run of shows was sure to be full of surprises, from her announcement of the release of “The Albatross” Department of Tormented Poets on the “Anti-Hero” singer's sweet “White Horse” duet with the outspoken Sabrina Carpenter. And, as she pointed out, the musician's surprise batch of songs at the Accor was truly chaotic, with the 14-time Grammy winner mixing tracks from her early albums with deep cuts from her latest work almost every night.
For example, Swift mixed it up Fearless fan favorite “Forever & Always” with Midnight track “Maroon” on February 26th. (Some fans are convinced that her seemingly random choices are actually hints that the many bonus versions of Tormented Poets will represent the five stages of grief, a theory that surfaced on social media during the musician's time Down Under.)
“I want to thank all the Aussie fans for being so positive and passionate and so funny and wild and fun,” Swift added in her post. “I love you forever.”
Aside from her appearances, Swift took time to enjoy the city. She went to Sydney Zoo twice and on her second visit was Travis Kelce, who later attended one of his superstar girlfriend's shows along with Katy Perry and Rita Ora. The tight end also accepted friendship bracelets from fans and handed out guitar picks to the crowd.
Swift's four nights in Sydney followed her three Eras tour dates in Melbourne. The 'Karma' artist will then set up shop in Singapore for six shows starting on March 2 at the National Stadium, where Carpenter will once again be the opening act.
