Ramy Youssef is getting ready to host Saturday night live for the first time this weekend (March 30) and the comedian was really, really, really hoping to be a host who makes history in his hilarious new promo.
“I'm honored to be the first Arab host of Saturday Night Live,” he says in the clip, which cast member Kenan Thompson notes is not the case.
However, Youssef was determined, stating that he is the first Egyptian host and even the first Egyptian host named Ramy – although Thompson reminded him that actor Ramy Malek has also hosted the show.
“Being first is dumb anyway. It doesn't matter who is first. It just matters that there's room for all of us, right? That's the diversity,” Youssef noted inspiredly, before finally concluding that he is the first Egyptian host named Ramy from New Jersey.
Watch the promo below, Saturday night live with Youssef as host and Travis Scott as musical guest on Saturday (March 30) at 11:30 a.m. ET on NBC, before the episode begins streaming on the Peacock.
