Abracadabra! Eminem is back. Slim Sadie is back to start his own The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) is out with his single “Houdini” on Friday (May 31). The title of the title track evokes Jimmy Iovine, Dr. Dre and even shadowing Em's own kids while also shooting his photo in a collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion.
Amidst his rhymes and request for collaboration, Eminem appears to link to and reference Megan who was shot in the legs by Tory Lanez outside a party in California in 2020.
“If I asked Megan the Stallion if she'd work with me/ I'd really have a shot at a feat,” he raps.
While Eminem has a history of being provocative with his lyrics, fans were surprised when he mentioned the shooting. The “Hiss” rapper has been open about the depression she suffered and her ongoing journey to healing from the trauma as a result of Lanez's shooting and subsequent trial. Lanez — born Daystar Peterson — was convicted of three felony counts and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
“Eminem's career has largely been built on being shocking and provocative to certain audiences… Being 51 and taking pictures of Megan Thee Stallion? Out of touch,” a fan wrote to X.
Said another, “Eminem can hundini his a– to hell. GO MEGAN ALOOOONEEEEE TF!!”
But there were others who welcomed the 15-time Grammy winner touching on the controversial topic. “So many people saying Eminem made an unnecessary comment on Megan. WE ARE SO BACK this EM I love!!!”
Eminem is about to reveal his The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) album — which will serve as his 12th studio LP — sometime this summer.
