This is the 6th proper full-length LP from Philadelphia emcee IAMISEE. Coming in as 1/2 of Grace & Divine, the duo would sign a short-lived deal with Ruffhouse Records before eventually disbanding. He then embarked on a solo career in 1999 with a self-titled debut and returned a few years later with 83 (third AD). This followed Adamantium as IAMISEE vs. DJ Demon andFear and loathing in the music business. But over a decade later, he's teaming up with DJ Iron to make a comeback Ghost H.
“ADAG (Angels, Demons, Aliens, Ghosts)” is a drum-less, soul-crushing, physical experience, while “Electric” dives into boom bap territory talking about just how much it shines. “Champion” works in more kicks and snares explaining that he has this type of sound just before “Rinse & Repeat” stays in boom bap territory so he can talk about life being messed up at times, rightfully so.
Moving on from there, “Beyond Worlds” keeps things rough, telling you to destroy that shit as your truck wheels spin leading into “The Meaning” which ends the first half of the album in an atmospheric loop of kicks and snares addressed to those who think they know what he is thinking. After “Outerlude”, we have “Signs of the Times” which starts the 2nd leg with a sample boom bap beat explaining what this is before the somewhat psychedelic “Atomic Comet” talks about how it plans to hit the earth . over
After the two-and-a-half-minute instrumental cut “Mind,” the title sub “(33 RPM)” returns to boom bap likening itself to a breath of fresh air, while the song “Timeslip” ties in some kicks and snares with them. The grungy guitar lick, acknowledging that it's been a long time since fans last heard from him, but it's finally here. “Return to Sender” however happens to be a groovy closer dedicated to all the souls stuck in the void.
Come find out Ghost H it's been a decade that started in 2013 and ended during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, which is interesting because you can definitely hear that they put everything into it. DJ Iron's production combines classic hip-hop with elements of 60s psychedelia and acid rock tracks, while also further experimenting with vintage instruments, phasers, analog filters and tape echoes on top of dense lyricism that transports listeners to another people.
