A “Rap Genres” category appeared on Friday's (November 1) episode. Take a risk!and most of the contestants didn't do very well navigating the hip-hop lane.
A contestant named Greg nailed the first answer of “drawn music” which was likened to a mix of “crazy and drunk”. Then Bulletin board mentioned when describing the fundamental importance of TI in 2003 Trap Muzik album to introduce trap music to the masses, but the contestants were confused and unable to identify who the rapper-actor was despite his photo accompanying the item. Show host Ken Jennings later named Big Freedia as a key subspecies and gave a hint related to what happens when you jump on a trampoline, but no one knew “bounce”.
Fortunately for Greg, he quickly answered the next question with an accurate “Who is Shaboozey?” when evidence was given of the musician's appearance on Beyoncé Cowboy Carter and the release of his chart-topping anthem “A Bar Song (Tipsy).”
Chicago music was the final answer for $400 in the category, after introducing the moniker “Drillinois” and crediting the late Pac-Man rapper as one of the original innovators of the sub-genre.
As for Shaboozey, he quickly became a household name in the music industry with his ubiquitous country-pop campfire “A Bar Song” topping the Billboard Hot 100 for 15 weeks. The J-Kwon-sampling crossover hit was interrupted last week by Morgan Wallen's “Love Somebody.”
“A Bar Song” which was released in April, has dominated Bulletin board charts, where it remains the leader on the Radio Songs and Streaming Songs charts. This is the longest run on the Radio Songs chart since Mariah Carey's “We Belong Together” in 2005. Shaboozey is four weeks away from tying Lil Nas X's record 19 weeks atop the Hot 100 for “Old Town Road ”, which is now in his own perspective.
