Young Thug's father, Jeffrey Williams, Sr., has been very vocal during his son's legal battle and has no plans to stop.
During a recent appearance Nothing But the Truth Podcast with Big JeffWilliams, Sr. expressed concern with rappers wanting to be around his son all of a sudden. “We got all these rappers and everybody trying to find Young Thug,” he said. “They want to talk to Young Thug, they want this, that and the other. Where have you been for 29 months? Why didn't you go out there protesting his constitutional rights being violated? You are all considered influencers. It doesn't affect sh-t.”
He added, “Now, you want to talk to him, you want to get these monkey videos out, all for your own personal gain. It's just for your personal gain, your personal hype, trying to make yourself relevant. Where have you been for 29 months? You could be relevant, you could be seen fighting with him, fighting with these guys. Because some of these guys are from the city side too. Some of these guys probably relate to some of you too. So where have you been? Where have all you Atlanta artists been? So far? You could fight for him. I don't understand why you don't deserve any brownie points for that sh-t.”
Big Jeff then went on to say that if the rappers themselves had a problem, his son would have backed up without having to be seen. “Let's make sense of it because I guarantee it,” he began. “If the shoe was on the other foot, he'd fight for you, he'd fight for you, hands down. Without trying to make a prop for his name so that he has some influence.'
He then took aim at one of Thugger's music industry mentors in TI, who recently posted a video of Thug in the studio, saying he approached the Atlanta legend about hosting an event at his Trap City Cafe.
“I went to TI about a year ago when he opened his restaurant and he asked him to do an event for YSL,” Williams, Sr. revealed. “And they said, 'Let me go with my people and see if I can do this, but still, I see you right there with Young Thug. Then he needed your help, then he needed your support. Let's be real with this shit, make sense. So, you know, which side do you play? Because I don't understand it.”
