Nearly a month after the release of The Cure’s first new album in 16 years, Songs of a Lost World, the band’s Robert Smith has remixed the song “A Fragile Thing.”
Swapping out the original’s alt rock arrangement for a dark, electronic feel, the new version of “A Fragile Thing” — dubbed the “RS24 Remix” — augments the song’s texture, with the drums, guitars, synths, and accents coming together with wall-of-sound impact. Stream the remix below.
Along with the remix, The Cure has also shared a live cut of “A Fragile Thing” from a show in London earlier this year. Together with the radio edit and the original, these two new cuts are featured on a digital single EP, available to stream now.
Alternatively, the RS24 remix and the original version will be printed on a 7-inch vinyl sold by Capitol Records. Pre-orders are ongoing, with the singles expected to ship on December 4th.
Songs of a Lost World was released on November 1st, and was named one of the best new albums of that month by Consequence. Rising to the top of the charts, it marked the first time The Cure has ever had a No. 1 album in the United States.
Up next, the band is expected to announce tour dates for autumn 2025, and will perform regularly through their supposed retirement in 2029.
