Take a bow Abi Carter.
The 21-year-old from Indio, CA wins the 2024 edition american idol, joins a list of past champions that includes Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard and Carrie Underwood.
Carter held her nerve during Sunday's (May 19) three-hour final, winning ahead of Jack Blocker, a 25-year-old from Dallas, Texas, and Will Moseley, a 23-year-old from Hazelhurst, GA.
The budding musicians performed Jon Bon Jovi's “Bed of Roses,” “Somewhere” from “West Side Story,” “River” (featuring Bishop Briggs) and the original song “This Isn't Over.”
It's definitely not over. When America voted, Carter came out on top.
Carter reigned in the season 22 finale which saw Rock And Roll Hall of Famer Jon Bon Jovi join as a guest mentor, as well as special appearances from Nick Fradiani, New Kids On The Block, Jason Mraz, Hootie And The Blowfish, Cece Winans, James Bay, Wynonna Judd, Seal, Bishop Briggs and Cody Johnson.
Speaker at Advertising sign when the top 10 was announced, Carter said: “I want to be an artist. I've never felt so passionate about something. I went to school and got a degree in psychology because I thought if I can't express my feelings through something artistically, maybe I can just help other people express their feelings. I would become a family therapist.”
As an Idol is crowned, a reality TV queen is leaving – Katy Perry. The American pop superstar is wrapping up her tenure on the panel and has announced that her future plans include new music.
