Veterans of two of electronic music's most influential technology companies have joined forces to launch a new company, Forever 89.
The nascent music technology firm is set to imminently introduce an innovative product that harkens back to the revolutionary spirit of the late '80s and early '90s, according to its founders, Svante Stadler and Rikard Jönsson. They come from Teenage Engineering and Ableton, respectively.
“As musicians and instrument designers, we are always looking for opportunities to support our own and others' journeys in music creation,” says Jönsson. Forever 89 aims to continue raising the bar for industry standards and the company's first teaser, titled “A New Way”, suggests that they are starting with a tool conducive to building, shaping and streamlining the development of rhythmic percussion.
Jönsson was the sole director of product marketing at Ableton, where he launched multiple campaigns for the influential Ableton Live DAW. Stadler got his start providing technical expertise for several leading music technology companies, including Teenage Engineering, Reason Studios, Auxy, XLN Audio, Mellotron, and Pacemaker.
“The need and desire to start our company arose naturally after our conversation,” Jönsson continues. “Svante and I share the same vision of shaping new music creation tools with modern UX design. If we were simply creating another drum machine, synth or effect, neither of us would embark on this journey. We want to make sure that every release “What we do will bring something new to music creators around the world.”
