Amyl and the Sniffers have proven to be one of the most exciting bands to emerge in the last decade, and their new single “U Should Not Be Doing That” does nothing to temper the excitement. The raucous song and its B-side “Facts” serve as the Australian pub-rockers' first new music since 2021.
“U Should Not Be Doing That” will be physically released as a 7-inch vinyl single alongside “Facts.” The physical edition expires June 28 (book here), but both songs and the music video for “U Should Not Be Doing That” can be streamed now.

“Lyrically, they're both self-explanatory,” stated Amyl and Sniffers singer Amy Taylor. “'U Should Not Be Doing That' makes me laugh, but it's also, in a way, a mockery of the shock people still feel about some skimpy clothing and the mean, high school way the music community still is. (Yeah). I'm talking to you random 40 year old metalheads sitting around a table doing lines and complaining about a 28 year old girl in a band for wearing shorts and 'selling out'), but it mostly makes me laugh.”
She continued: “It's unconscious and didn't mean anything at the time of writing, but now I think it's a comical way to rub the dog's nose in its own dog urine after peeing on your favorite rug or something.”
Following the theme Taylor just described, the comedic music video features the singer engaging in non-stop aggressive dancing with actor Steven Ogg, 50 (The Walking Dead, better call Saul).
Meanwhile, “Facts” is a fast-paced, Stooges-style romp with a Blondie-infused chorus. Prior to these two songs, Amyl and the Sniffers last released new music with their 2021 sophomore album, comfort for me.
Amyl and the Sniffers will tour North America this summer, including a headlining tour and select dates opening for Foo Fighters. Tickets for their upcoming shows are available here.
