During a recent appearance on Uninterrupted's The storeAndre 3000 recalled the time UGK's Pimp C got upset over the verse Stacks gave.
In a clip from the episode premiering this Thursday, July 11 at 12 p.m. Stores YouTube channelhad this to say after LeBron pointed out that Draymond Green and his wife played the “Int'l Players Anthem” during their entrance:
“Rest in peace Pimp, but I have a story for that. Pimp was so mad at me because they sent me the beat and I wrote my verse, put my words down and took out the beat to rap. When I sent it back to them, Pimp said, “Man, f—k that muttaf—ah, man! This na gon' gon' gon' gon' gon' ga't dam's beat out! Like, who does he think he is?' , it sets it off.' So it's almost like a set-up. So it worked, and once he got it, he was like, 'Okay, okay.' But he was so mad at me.”
Back in 2016, during a podcast appearance Waste of time with ItsTheReal, veteran A&R Jeff Sledge told a similar story about Pimp's reaction when André brought out the drums:
“When Andre sent his track back and it didn't have drums, Chad was pissed. He was like, “Man, f—k André, man! How fk gonna send my sh-t back and take my drums off? I'm mutaf—to Pimp C, f—k it.' He was in the office and left for Andre to take out the drums. André had something – and even if you listen to André's stuff now – he doesn't really like drums under his stuff because he wants people to hear what he's saying. I was like, “Chad, keep the reputation. Let's rock it like that because when André does a capella and then when the beat drops, that's when your verse drops. And then your verse will lift the record, because now the beat hits and your verse hits.” And he says, “Okay, Jeff. I'll give it a shot. If it gets cut, it's up to you.”
This particular episode will also feature guests Sexyy Red, fashion designer Jerry Lorenzo, BMX athlete Nigel Sylvester and comedian/actor Jiaoying Summers.
