In recent years, inflation has caused food prices and daily necessities to take a big bite out of our pockets, but at least our beloved AriZona Iced Tea continues to stay at $1.
Why do you ask; Well according to Today the founder of Arizona Iced Tea believes the company doesn't need to resort to raising the price of a 23oz box of iced tea ((he said the same thing TWO years ago). While many companies are taking advantage of price increases and following suit, even if not, Arizona Beverages president and co-founder Don Vultaggio says businesses are still booming and don't want to make life harder for their customers by digging into their pockets for a few more cents.
Per Today:
“We are successful. We are debt free. We have everything. Why; Why should people who struggle to pay their rent have to pay more for our booze?' he told Sellers. “Maybe it's my small way of giving back.
When asked if he ever plans to raise prices, he himself he responded, “Not in the immediate future. We will fight as hard as we can for consumers.”
Thank you sir!
Then again we all know how money hungry business minds work and tend to follow any trend they think might bring in more revenue. So when they see prices rising amid global inflation, many will follow suit and raise prices on their products even if it is not necessary.
Vultaggio on the other hand doesn't try to take advantage of any situation just for the sake of money and it's a mindset he's had for quite some time.
“For me, the worst day as a seller is going to a retailer and saying, 'Hey, by the way, I'm raising the price on this box today,'” Vultaggio told TODAY.com in 2022. For him, such changes they have negative effects, which he has done well to avoid.
“What you want to do is have a customer come in and get a fair value on a can of tea or juice and then buy other things in your store to offset that cost,” he explained.
I wish more entrepreneurs kept this true.
That said, we have seen a few places where a box of Arizona Iced Tea was selling for $1.25. Now we know it wasn't a price set by the company itself, but we happened to run into the bodega owner.
Bastards.
