The second annual Billboard Latin Women in Music tribute drew record-breaking engagement, reports Telemundo, where the two-hour show aired Sunday (June 9). Marking a +541% increase on the 2023 show with 61 million engagements across TV, digital, Peacock and social networks, the 2024 edition garnered a total of 109.6 million video minutes watched, a +20% increase compared to 2023.
Telemundo's telecast of the gala ranked as the most-watched show on Spanish-language television in the 9-11 p.m. time slot, averaging 192,000 adults 18-49 and 897,000 total viewers, according to Nielsen. Overall, the show outperformed Univision by +43% in adults 18-49 and +65% in total viewers. In addition, the linear broadcast reached 1.5 million total viewers, an increase of +14% over the previous year.
This year, Karol G was honored as Woman of the Year. Gloria Estefan received the Legend Award. Camila Cabello the Global Impact Award. Ana Bárbara the Lifetime Achievement Award. Ángela Aguilar the Musical Dynasty award. Kali Uchis the Rising Star Award. Kany García the Spirit of Change Award. and the La India the Pioneer award.
In a night of celebration, honorees Ana Bárbara, Uchis, Aguilar, García and La India delivered impressive performances that showcased excellence in their craft. Meanwhile, Estefan was honored by Elena Rose, Gale and Juliana, who performed a riveting rendition of “Mi Tierra.”
The Woman of the Year, who delivered her speech via video as she is on tour in Europe, expressed her gratitude to all the women who are not only part of her team, but also those who have worked with her and those who broadcast her music. “This makes me want to keep working really hard. The No. 1 thing on my bucket list is to continue to inspire people around the world. I will give my best every day, work, study, prepare to continue to bring some light,” he said.
