Fast forward only 5 months after the last, BLAXPLOITATION here it was brought to my attention and I gave it a shot.
“Dark Fronto” is that self-produced psychedelic boom opener that tells his little girl to come with the titular smoke leaves and take it as far as she wants, while “Blessed” takes the trap route by organically expressing his gratitude for it is where it is. at this moment in life he refuses to rest. “Ballerina” puts a lo-fi vibe on the beats making all these muhfuckas here dance while the title track speaks soulfully about his soul made of gold.
The reverse sample throughout “Lil Boosie (Set It Off)” was a touch of narcotics that harkened back to a highlight of his 3rd album, though major label debut Badazz, leading into the kick-ass, trap-heavy “Teenager” and grand pianos to speak for all of us who are lost. looking for a savior since all sinners on this earth with blood on our hands. “Interpretation of Dreams” was an excellent choice of a single that created a captivating mix that showcases BLAX's unique talent of combining clever samples with introspective storytelling.
“On My Soul” pushes further towards its final leg BLAXPLOITATION heading in a more jazzy direction towards the beach talking about freeing his soul, while “Magician” maintains a sound that generally speaks to living big and bold, except that it sounds unfinished, especially since it could have lay down another verse instead of leaving the instrumental ride out during the 2nd half. “Intelligent Beings” concludes the album by curiously asking what the world is in the world.
Delivering a rich mix of beats that enhance its timeless appeal with compelling storytelling and captivating hooks, BLAXPLOITATION delivers on its promise of constant replay value as a distinctive addition to hip hop and its discography. It captures the essence of classic hip hop while incorporating modern elements, ensuring it resonates with both longtime fans and new listeners.
