Britney Spears has settled a pending legal dispute with her father that arose after the pop star's 13-year conservatorship ended in 2021. Advertising sign has confirmed. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
“It has been our honor and privilege to represent, protect and defend Britney Spears,” said Spears' attorney, Matthew Rosengartin a statement sent to Advertising sign. “Although the Conservative term ended in November 2021, her desire for freedom is now truly complete. As she wished, her freedom now includes that she will no longer have to attend or be involved in courts or be involved in legal proceedings for that matter.'
A legal tussle arose in the wake of the conservatorship's dissolution in November 2021, when Rosengart promised to investigate alleged misconduct by Spears' father, Jamie Spearsduring the years he served as his daughter's conservator — including allegations that he took millions from her estate, tried to control her with drugs and denied her the freedom to remove a birth control device.
Conflict also arose over Jamie's request in December 2021 that Britney's estate continue to pay his legal fees, arguing that ending the conservatorship did not end his ongoing “fiduciary obligations” and that he could face “personal bankruptcy and ruin” if his request is denied. Rosengart responded by calling the request “not only legally void, but vile.”
Britney was placed in a foster home controlled by her father in 2008 after a series of public breakdowns. The legal arrangement came under scrutiny beginning in 2019, when a pair of documentaries and a movement called #FreeBritney started by the superstar's fans went viral, eventually leading Britney to speak on her behalf in public testimony.
Lawyers for Jamie Spears did not immediately respond Advertising signhis request for comment.

It has been our honor and privilege to represent, protect and champion Britney Spears.
Although the Conservative term ended in November 2021, her desire for freedom is now truly complete. As she wanted, her freedom now includes that she will no longer have to attend or be involved in courts or be involved in legal proceedings for that matter.
Britney Spears won when the court suspended her father and Britney Spears won when her fundamental rights and civil liberties were restored.
Since gaining her freedom in late 2021, Britney Spears has seen notable success on several fronts, including her August 2022 collaboration with Sir Elton John on the smash hit Hold Me Closer (which debuted at no. one on the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart and became her 24th top ten single), followed by her landmark book deal with Simon & Schuster for her memoir The Woman in Me, an instant NY Times bestseller, which received universal, rapturous praise and would not have been possible during conservatism.
We reiterate our satisfaction in being able to assist in the restoration of Britney Spears' civil rights and liberties and the honor and privilege to serve and protect Ms. Spears and achieve her goals in resolving various legal issues in accordance with our thoughtful and her wise instructions and requests, which once again are to her credit.
