The singer and guitarist talks about what it takes for the band to return to the studio after a 35-year career. Janovitz also talks about why the record is more acoustic and the '60s feel that emerged as a byproduct, as well as the political currents behind the lead single, “Helmet.”
After mentioning that comedy tends to age much worse than music, Janovitz goes on to talk about his biographical work. He touches his 2023 biography of Leon Russell and whether or not it affected his own music, and gives insight into his current work on The Cars. “I'm dealing with the three surviving members, which is very different from writing a biography of someone who has passed away,” he explains.
