Cardi B and Joe Budden have what appears to be a controversial connection after the famous podcast host mentioned the rapper and entertainer on a recent episode of his self-titled podcast. After saying that Cardi B will only release singles from this point on, the Bronx star took a shot at Joe Budden in an X Spaces rant.
In episode 742 of The Joe Budden Podcast, a discussion surrounding Rob49's new single and video “On Dat Money” featuring Cardi B, appeared with the cast pondering whether a second album was coming from the “Bodak Yellow” rapper. Budden joked that Cardi won't be releasing an album, a refrain she's said in previous episodes, stating that she's now becoming a “single” artist.
The comments got to Cardi, who hopped on Spaces on Thursday night (July 18) and unleashed a fiery rant at the retired lyricist and popular media personality.
“Brother, I gave you a lap dance twice at Starlets,” Cardi says in leaked audio from the Spaces event. “You were high as f*ck. High as f*ck for coke, n*gga. I don't give a damn when people talk about me. It's the fact that you're always talking about me, Joe Budden. Out of nowhere, you'd think I did something to this n*ga. For the last two years, this n*gga has only been talking bad things about me.”
Starlets is a popular strip club in Queens that Baden and his bandmates are known to frequent.
While it's true that Budden has been a harsh critic of Cardi, he's also been heaping praise on her and even hailed her debut album Breach of privacy one of his favorite works of the modern era along with other positive comments.
On X, Budden gave a series of responses stating that he will no longer be bringing Cardi on his show.
“I promise and I can assure you that I will not cover one thing this girl does for the rest of her career…Peace and love,” the thread began. “Also, I've never gotten a dance around this lady. Also, I've never done coke.”
Cardi also took to X and shared a message with her fans about her passionate response to Budden.
I want to say this to the Bardi gang or anyone who is just a fan of my music or even my craziness… I have my good days and my bad days but you know what, whether it's good or bad, I couldn't be more happy with the obvious anticipation for my album..Sometimes I get a little aggressive because I know I don't like being told what to do but I promise you it's coming THIS YEAR. Thanks for the love and anticipation and always holding me down
