Cardi B won't back down from a lawsuit accusing the rap star and her estranged husband Offset of using a mansion for content filming purposes and underpaying for the privilege.
The 'Bodak Yellow' rapper took to her social media accounts where she responded to claims the couple had breached an agreement over money, blamed the property's 'greedy owners' and claimed she had proof.
“We paid these people $10,000 CASH to rent the property for a full 24 hours on the same day from 6am to 6am the next morning and we spent ONE hour for which we paid overage fees to the broker in March “, he writes on X. “Now they want to flatter us by trying to say we told them it was a TikTok video when it wasn't anywhere in the contract and like they didn't hear the whole song playing and see how long we were filming… Why would they tell us take 24 hours to take a TikTok.”
According to an 11-page complaint, the hip-hop heavyweights targeted a distinctive property and “devised a scheme” to use it “without paying full market value,” according to Rolling Stone.
The document claims representatives for Cardi and Offset had anonymously booked the property “under the false pretense” that it would be used for a TikTok video.
Now, Cardi notes, the gloves are off. “Problem is people want to find loopholes and get away with it, but IRON YOUR BEST DOG, I'll see you in court!!!!,” he writes.
In a separate tweet, he adds, “And it's not the brokers fault… they've been trying for months to sort this out. It's their greedy owners with their ugly house.”
The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court and noted that the music video created during the shoot, “Like What,” had garnered more than 26 million views on YouTube since its release six months ago.
