Country music superstar Carrie Underwood looks set to return to the show that launched her career nearly two decades ago, according to References from multiple outlets. The multi-Grammy-winning country singer is expected to replace Katy Perry as his new judge American Idol.

On Monday night, Underwood appeared in Nashville as part of a tribute concert to honor the late country singer-songwriter Toby Keith.
Perry, who had spent seven seasons as a judge on the show alongside Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan since moving from the Fox original to ABC in 2018, revealed her departure from American Idol earlier this year.
