Cercle, the Paris-based production company known for bringing DJ sets to far-flung locations, will hit the road in 2025.
Called Cercle Odyssey, the show will be constructed as a 360-degree panoramic projection designed to create an immersive experience. The set-up will feature a series of huge screens meant to cover the audience, these screens being around 40 feet high and 180 feet long, with high-definition footage synchronized to the music.
Kicking off in 2015, the show will feature music and artists of all genres, with artists, dates and cities to be announced in the coming months. Cercle Odyssey videos will be overseen by Paris-based filmmaker Neels Castillon, co-founder of Motion Palace, a creative studio producing original content for brands, culture and the arts. Focusing on humanity, nature and beauty, the videos will be based on the story of Homer Odyssey and focus on the matter of returning home.
Cercle Odyssey is also designed to be a sustainable operation, with all sound, lighting and projection equipment used in each performance rented locally in each respective performance city. The company notes that by using 29 state-of-the-art projectors instead of traditional LED screens to illuminate the set design, the show does not require transporting a huge number of LED screens, thus reducing carbon emissions when transporting the show.
Phones will be prohibited inside the shows and guests will receive filmed content from the show they are watching.
“Cercle's mission is and always will be to create unique scenes for unique artists,” Cercle's creative director Derek Barbola says Advertising sign. “Once we hit one billion views on our videos, we realized that many people want to experience the Cercle, but traveling to Egypt or to the top of a mountain is not easy or possible for everyone. With Cercle Odyssey, we are bringing the experience closer to people's homes, while continuing with our events at the heritage site”
Since its launch in 2016, Cercle has created 240 events in locations around the world, including a salt flat in Bolivia, the Eiffel Tower, a peak in the Alps and other locations, including around 30 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Participating artists include Disclosure, Peggy Gou, Above & Beyond, Carlita, Amelie Lens, Hot From 82 and more.
