Charles Barclay he has already answered the prayers of thousands Inside the NBA fans by pulling out of his retirement since the beginning of the year. In a new interview, the basketball legend says he left $100 million on the table to stay at Turner Sports and helped save jobs in the process.
Charles Barclay, 61, was a guest at The Dan Le Batard Show and shared details from his vantage point about Turner Sports losing out on the NBA's new media rights deal, which would begin after the upcoming 2024-25 season. Chuckster, who has been vocally loyal to Inside The NBA's studio staff, says he turned down bigger offers to help keep his team intact and busy.
“The number one thing for me is that my people from Turner can keep their jobs for at least a year,” Barclay told Le Batard. “That was all I was concerned with.”
Barkley added that he was courted by several suitors, but decided not to leave his TNT crew in the lurch.
“I want to thank all these networks that approached me. It was really humbling and cool, to be honest with you. Even though they were putting up crazy numbers, but as long as I got my guys safe on TNT man, I feel pretty good,” Barkley said.
It seems that the Inside the NBA Crew will continue after the NBA's contract with Turner Sports ends. The NBA's new 11-year deal will bring games to NBC and Amazon Prime Video, along with ESPN.
