Childish Gambino wants people to have more 'fun', which is what he had in mind and inspired his upcoming Bando Stone & the New World album, his last under the pseudonym.
Gambino (born Donald Glover) took to Instagram Live on Wednesday (June 26) where he cleared up plans for his single “Lithonia” and blamed streaming platform Audiomack for allegedly leaking the release date earlier than he wanted.
“'Lithonia' will be released on July 2nd. That got leaked – it kind of pissed me off to be honest,” he explained. “That's another reason why you're not doing well. Why; It's not valuable enough, it's just a single. And I know who did it. Audiomack, f—–g no soup for you. You don't get the album now. This is the time I am.” (Advertising sign has contacted Audiomack for comment.)
Bando Stone it's slated to be a movie soundtrack companion, but not much is known about a potential release date on either front there.
During his IG Live, the “This Is America” artist also implored people to have more fun in life and seemingly referenced the Drake-Kendrick Lamar war that provided the most fun in music this year.
“I try to have fun. Because I feel like there are just people who don't have enough fun,” he added. “When I was a kid, there were, like, big things that would bring us together and I feel bad for all of you. I feel bad for some of you all.'
Gambino continued: “Even this year, the most fun we had was from a fight. [It] it was a song about a fight, about a rap beef, which I enjoyed every minute of. It was a lot of fun. But still kind of negative in a certain light, I guess.”
In May, the 40-year-old collector handed in his Atavistic (3.15.20 redesigned versions) album, which served as an 11-track remastered version of it 3.15.20 project from March 2020.
