Following the release of their single 'Oh Hi' and their joyous appearance on BBC Radio 2 Piano Room, Brit Award-winning and multi-million selling Crowded House have announced their new single, 'Teenage Summer', taken from their eighth studio album . 'Gravity Stairs', out Friday, May 31 via BMG.
Produced by the band with Steven Schram (Paul Kelly, San Cisco), 'Gravity Stairs' showcases the current incarnation of Crowded House featuring Neil Finn, Nick Seymour, Mitchell Froom, Elroy Finn and Liam Finn.
To celebrate the release of the new album, the band will be performing a special show at Pryzm in Kingston on June 10 in conjunction with Banquet Records.
The new single played on stage at recent shows and previously known as “Life's Imitation,” is now interestingly renamed “Teenage Summer.” As Neil explains, “My grandson Manaia told me that “Teenage Summer” was one of his favorite songs. She had identified the peak moment of the song and a light went on. “It's that simple, you have to listen to the children.”

Speaking about the album title 'Gravity Stairs', Neil says the name was inspired by an abnormally heavy stone staircase near where Finn is on holiday. “The Gravity Stairs symbolize the struggle to ascend, recognizing the opposing forces of weight in the mechanics of life. It is an act of will every day.”
Crowded House has sold over 15 million records worldwide and won a Brit Award, 13 Australian ARIA Awards and an MTV VMA. The band has generated billions of streams, consistently sold out tours across multiple continents, and captivated audiences for nearly four decades.
Originally founded by Neil Finn, Nick Seymour and the late Paul Hester, the group's 1986 self-titled debut went platinum, fueled by worldwide hits 'Something So Strong' and 'Don't Dream It's Over', which have been heard by everyone. from Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande to U2, among others.
In 1996, the group performed a legendary performance before an audience of over 150,000 on the steps of the Sydney Opera House, beginning a hiatus that ended after Paul's death in 2005. This resulted in the albums 'Time on Earth' (2007) and 'Intriguer'. ' (2010) before being inducted into the ARIA Australian Hall of Fame in 2016 and returning to the Sydney Opera House for three unforgettable nights.
