Cypress Hill Turns 'Simpsons' Episode into Reality with London Symphony Orchestra Performance

There are times when life can imitate art. Back in May 1996 episode of The Simpsons, Cypress Hill collaborated with the London Symphony Orchestra. Now, nearly three decades later, they've made it a reality, and the long-running Fox show can take credit for predicting the future One more time.

B-Real, Sen Dog and the kids took the stage at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Wednesday night (July 10) alongside the London Symphony Orchestra for a classical concert.

Backed by a full orchestra, Cypress Hill put a jazzy spin on their setlists, including “A to the K,” “Insane in the Brain,” “I Wanna Get High” and more.

The California-raised hip-hop group were dressed to the nines in suits as they ran through 1993 Black Sunday album. Fans loved the 28-year-old's collaboration, with the 5,000-capacity venue seemingly packed.

“It's something we've talked about for many years since then The The Simpsons The episode aired for the first time,” B-Real said BBC before the show. “So it's very special for us. And it comes on the heels of our 30th anniversary for us Black Sunday album. We've played a lot of historic venues throughout our career and things like that, but nothing quite like this.”

Black Sunday arrived in July 1993 and debuted atop the Billboard 200 with 261,000 album units sold in its first week. Triple platinum single “Insane in the Brain” reached the Billboard Hot 100 top 20, where it reached No. 19.

His “Homerpalooza” episode The Simpsons aired on May 19, 1996, as the penultimate episode of the seventh season. Homer, Marge and the Simpson family visit backstage at the Springfield Fairgrounds where Cypress Hill and other performers hang out. Event staff members are surprised to see the London Symphony Orchestra perform and suspect the cannabis-endorsed crew may have had something to do with it. “Someone commissioned the London Symphony Orchestra. Possibly, while high, Cypress Hill, I'm looking in your direction,” they said.

After they huddle, Cypress agrees that they might have and sees if the orchestra knows “Insane in the Brain” to deliver a classic rendition of their cartoon show anthem.
