Dame Dash claims Drake offered $6 million for Roc-A-Fella stock but “disappeared.”
In a recent video uploaded to Dash's America Nu Network YouTube page, the Harlem businessman spoke out about the controversial auction. “Well, the auction was held yesterday and virtually no one showed up,” he began. “Just Jay's lawyers, the state [of New York]and the crew that sued me in the first place.” He then mentioned that he wasn't there because it was his son's birthday and that he “just wanted this thing done.”
According to the New York Postthe state of New York made a $1 million bid and won as they continue to try to collect the $8 million in back taxes that Dash owes the state. “Nobody showed up,” Dame repeated. “And the state made an offer on it and that was really worth it.” He then went on to throw some shade at his former business partner Jay-Z, “What he really taught me was that, in the world, the house isn't as big as it made it out to be. I thought more people would be interested in buying it because of its artistic value. And that's the only thing that sold me, because everyone portrays that they love this dude… I thought people would at least show up. Nobody even showed up.”
Dash then revealed that Drake made a strong offer via DM, but it was ghosted. “At the end of the day, I don't really understand it,” he said of the situation. “My child support, I guess, will be paid. And in my mind, I wasn't getting anything from that bread anyway. If I could sell it, I thought people would really love homeboy, the hiatus, a lot more than they did. People didn't show up. Drake bid for $6 million but then disappeared. It's in my DM… I don't know what happened. But other than that, no serious people. Nobody wanted this sh-t. Period.”
Back in August, Dame offered an original Roc-A-Fella chain to anyone who bid over $10 million, but apparently that scenario never materialized. There were also rumors about whether Roc-A-Fella Inc.'s main asset, Reasonable Doubt, would eventually fall into Jay-Z's hands, ultimately scaring off potential buyers. However, a judge declined to rule on the matter. “The asset being auctioned is one-third of Dash's stake in the RAF [Roc-A-Fella] the same, not the work belonging to the RAF,” the judge wrote. “The Court does not currently have jurisdiction over the validity of Carter's copyright termination notice.”
