Danny Carey sported a new look during Tool's recent show (June 5) in Paris, as the drummer wore a skin-tight glow-in-the-dark suit in the style of artist Alex Grey's “Psychic Energy System” artwork.
Gray is a long-time Tool collaborator and has designed the art for side and 10,000 days. Carey's suit was created by Jacob Roanhaus, who also made a similar suit that displays a muscular system similar to the side cover of the album that Carey showed off a few months ago.
Tool shared a short video of Carey performing in the “Psychic Energy System” suit on Instagram, with fans commenting that the outfit reminded them of Thanos and Marvel's Infinity Stones, and others commenting that it had a Tron vibe. However, as seen below, it appears to be a direct homage to Grey's 1980. Psychic Energy System chartwhich is more in line with the chakra system.
The Paris show came in the middle of Tool's current UK and European tour, which ends on June 27 in Oslo, Norway (tickets available here).
The departure marks the end of a long string of tour dates for singer Maynard James Keenan, who recently completed a tour with his bands A Perfect Circle and Puscifer. The vocalist has stated that he will focus on writing new music for all three bands once his touring obligations end.
