DDG defends Halle Bailey after initially criticizing his decision to bring their son Halo Kai Cenat Live stream earlier this week.
The rapper took to YouTube to release a video on Thursday (Nov. 7) in which he blasted those trying to bash Bailey and explained why other factors could be at play in his grace.
“She might be going through something mentally after having a child that I can't understand as a man,” he said. “So when situations like this happen, I try to handle it with as much grace as possible because Halo needs it. I need her. We need each other to try to create a childhood that will be safe, fun and memorable for him.”
DDG continued, “Y'all could hate me all you want, but leave Halle alone, man. Mentally, you don't know what she's going through when it comes to childbirth. It just pushed a whole person out. He is engaged in a whole new life. She should always consider Halo in every situation… I have a very thick skin when it comes to online reactions, but I know this is very, very new for her and I just ask you to relax.”
DDG brought his and Halle's son Halo to Kai Cenat's stream on Wednesday night (November 6), which Bailey initially said in a since-deleted tweet made her “extremely upset” and claimed she didn't approve of having the their baby in front of millions of virtual bulbs.
“Hi everyone,” he began with messages that have since been deleted. “Just so you know I'm out of town and I don't approve of my baby being on stream tonight. I was not informed or notified and I am extremely upset about having my baby in front of millions of people. I'm his mother and guardian and I'm sorry I wasn't informed especially when I'm out of town.”
A separate tweet found Bailey admitting she was having a 'serious postpartum', before ending up deactivating her accounts. This only lasted a few hours as she reactivated soon after and admitted that she may have overreacted with her outbursts and thanked Kai for the gifts for her son.
“Maybe I overreacted yesterday and shouldn't have brought it up here” THE Little Mermaid the actress tweeted on Thursday. “I know halo is always safe with his daddy. I just don't like finding out with the rest of the world what my baby is doing. thank you Kai for the halo gifts.”
DDG and Bailey began dating in January 2022, and Halle gave birth to Halo in late 2023. The couple announced they were splitting in October when DDG posted a message on his Instagram Story about the couple going their separate ways.
