Disney has revealed the trailer for moana 2. The animated sequel, which opens in theaters on November 27, 2024, reunites Moana and Maui three years after the events of the original film, as they embark on “an expansive new journey alongside a crew of unlikely sailors.”
Original stars Auli'i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson return to voice Moana and Maui, respectively, while the sequel will feature music by Abigail Barlow, Emily Bear, Opetaia Foaʻi and Mark Mancina. David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand and Dana Ledoux Miller directed the project.
moana 2 was originally announced as a Disney+ series, but was recast as a filmed feature film after Bob Iger returned as head of Disney in hopes that it would provide a boon to the company's theatrical business.
Along with the animated sequel, a live-action Moana movie is also in development, starring Johnson as Maui. Its launch is currently scheduled for 2026.
