DJ Akademiks upset with his news Kendrick Lamar playing in the 2025 Super Bowl, blaming Jay-Z of involvement in beef with Drake.
On Sunday (September 8), Kendrick Lamar announced that he would be the halftime headliner at Super Bowl LIX. The news shocked everyone and greatly upset DJ Akademiks. He then accused Jay-Z of purposely singling out Lamar to further fuel the beef between him and Drake. The social media announcement came before kickoff for the first full day of the 2024-25 NFL season, with Lamar saying, “You know you only get one chance to win the championship, right? There are no two rounds.” Many saw this as a reference to Drake's subliminal message in a recent post where he claimed, “Gonna win game two.”
DJ Akademiks was not amused and began posting a series of posts on X, previously on Twitter expressing his anger. “The NFL just gave Kendrick Lamar a global 'Pop Out' show… Jay ZI see un–guh… u ain't low…,” he wrote, referring to the freak beef between the Compton rapper and Drake that dominated the spring and the peak summer. on several tracks including “Not Like Us”. He followed it up with another post directed at the Roc Nation founder: “Jay-Z and Roc Nation in charge of curating Super Bowl halftime…remember this.”
The podcast host continued to express, writing in another post: “Drake and J.Cole rapped on 'Big As the What.. Big As the Super Bowl' and Jay-Z just made Kendrick Lamar his headliner Super Bowl. Nah n—-a dis st is wild… this is crazy.'
DJ Akademiks also called Jay Z a “legendary hater” for them Mr. Morale and The Big Steppers the rapper chosen to headline over New Orleans, Lil Wayne. The controversial media personality also addressed the former beef between Jay Z and Drake in an Instagram post. “Jay-Z set up the project. Drake… Jay doesn't forget the 'Charged Up' verse n—-a. This is the highest,” she wrote with a tear-flowing emoji.
Super Bowl 59 will take place on February 9, 2025, with Roc Nation and Jesse Collins co-producing the Apple Music-sponsored show. “Rap music is still the most impressive genre to date. And I'll be there to remind people why. They got the right one,” Lamar told the press release.
