Doja Cat has documented her relationship with her fans.
In an Apple Music interview released Thursday, the Demons rapper dismissed the notion that she “hates” on her supporters, claiming people have misinterpreted her “sense of humor.”
“One thing I want to make clear is: You will never see a direct quote of me saying I hate my fans. Not once. But it's a very big mistake,” Doja told host Ebro. “Everyone says she hates her fans. I never said that, but I like to play with it as a meme.”
The pop star noted that “those who get it, get it.”
“And I'm fine with that,” cried Doya. “I don't have to explain my sense of humor and explain comedy to anybody. If people don't see the joke, then they just don't see the joke, and it's not my responsibility to make them understand.”
Doja caused controversy earlier this year after attacking her fans online. The performer criticized supporters who had created fan accounts dedicated to her and referred to themselves as 'kitty'.
“My fans can't be called s**t. If you call yourself 'kitty' or 'king kitty' that means you need to get off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house,” posted to Threads at the time.
Meta confirmed to Billboard that Doja lost 237,758 followers the weekend of her post.
She later deleted her account after the online controversy.
