Doja Cat’s mother has accused her son of physically and verbally abusing the singer.
The Woman singer’s mum, Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer, filed for a temporary restraining order against her son, Raman Dalithando Dlamini, in Los Angeles Superior Court on 12 January, according to TMZ.
In the filing, she listed her daughter, real name Amala Dlamini, as another person who allegedly needs protection from Raman.
Sawyer claimed that Raman, 30, knocked the singer’s teeth out, gave her a series of cuts and bruises, and stole and damaged some of her personal possessions.
“Raman has verbally assaulted her in a very degrading and demeaning manor (sic),” the filing reads. “(He makes her) feel unsafe and traumatized.”
Sawyer also alleged that Raman had physically abused and threatened her on several occasions over the past year, with the most recent incident allegedly taking place earlier this month.
In the documents, Sawyer stated that she had been granted temporary restraining orders against her son for the past seven years but they have since expired.
According to the outlet, Sawyer was granted protection against her son and would later attend a hearing for a permanent order. However, the judge refused to do the same for Doja, who will have to file her own application.
Doja, 28, has yet to address the family drama but has been active on social media amid the legal battle.
Earlier this week, she posted the Coachella festival line-up after she was announced as a headliner, and she later shared a picture of herself wearing three pairs of glasses at the same time.
