Latto is several dates into her 2024 tour in celebration of her Sugar Honey Iced Tea album
Latto and Drake linked up in Toronto Thursday night for a surprise performance. Big Mama was performing at History, the venue Drake co-owns in Canada, when Champagne Papi suddenly emerged from the VIP balcony to perform “Housekeeping Knows” with Latto.
The song’s lyrics were fitting to her visit to the Canadian city, since they hear Drake rap, “Southside girls, they know how to close a deal/Up in the six, up, up in the six/Up in the six, they do whatever they feel.”
With a mic in hand, Drake rapped his verse from the balcony spot as Latto joined with her own lines while joined by a handful of dancers. “Make some noise for Latto one time,” Drake said from the balcony, before leading the crowd with a chant of “Hey Latto, hey Latto!”
Drake — dressed in a blue jacket and rocking braids — was sassy with his performance, acting out the lyrics with his arms and joining in on Latto’s “Bitch, what’s up!” Latto’s collab with Drake was featured on his 100 Gigs EP, which dropped via an obscure website in August.
Latto must be in a celebratory mood Friday after she earned a Grammy omination in the Best Melodic Rap Performance category, thanks to her song “Big Mama.” She’s up against tracks by Beyoncé, The Weeknd, and Rapsody.
Latto kicked off her 2024 Sugar Honey Iced Tea tour in Tampa on Oct. 25. She’ll perform in Detroit next on Monday, before scheduledstops in cities across Texas and the west coast. She’ll close her tour on Dec. 7 at the Fillmore in Denver.
