Ravers need adequate rest, hydration, and exercise to achieve the endurance that comes with dancing all night. Especially at multi-day festivals, physical well-being is crucial for fans to stay energized and avoid the dreaded post-festival “wook flu.”
New research from digital healthcare platform Tebra suggests that electronic music fans are among the healthiest compared to listeners of other genres. In fact, EDM fans are likely to drink 16 or more glasses of water per day, according to the study, and are more likely to exercise frequently and sleep eight or more hours a night.
Tebra's data also suggests that electronic music fans rarely visit their doctor. Another interesting finding from the research noted that EDM is a musical genre that people would least likely want to listen to in a doctor's waiting room. Rather, genres such as rock, pop and hip-hop are more suitable for the doctor's office, the study indicated.
Overall, EDM listeners ranked second on the list of healthiest fans, while country music listeners ranked No. 1. According to the study, the healthiest music fans were indie, folk, and punk, while fans of R&B and soul music turned out to be the least healthy.
Tebra says they surveyed 1,002 Americans about their health habits and music preferences. Respondents were able to select up to three genres they liked.
