Elton John is as famous for his decades of undisputed pop hits as he is for his wardrobe, but even rock legends sometimes need to clean out their closets. The 'Your Song' singer is listing over 200 items from his personal wardrobe on eBay. Given Elton John's penchant for flair, most of the tracks are surprisingly subtle. They include sequin jackets, Union Jack hats and leopard print coats, but there are some more statement pieces like Yohji Yamamoto shirts and Adidas tracksuits.
The 'Rocket Man Resale' started on June 27th and ends on Saturday, July 6th. All proceeds from the auction will go to Elton John's AIDS Foundation, which has raised over $600 million for HIV prevention and treatment since its founding in 1992.

“Giving new life to favorite items from my wardrobe has always been special to me. For decades I have donated the treasures of my wardrobe to support the Elton John AIDS Foundation,” Elton John said in a statement. In a video promoting the auction Joined by husband David Furnish, John said: “Now that my touring days are over, I've been thinking of ways to make the world a bit more wonderful,” adding: “I've had an epiphany. What if everyone could dress a little more like me?'
The pieces come from Elton John's Atlanta home in the Peachtree neighborhood, which he sold last year. The ongoing eBay sale follows a Christie's art and jewelry auction from his Atlanta home earlier this year that included a Banksy triptych that sold for nearly $2 million. eBay auction is comparatively more affordable. bidding on most pieces started at $26.60, a nod to his Atlanta home address, and many of the more low-key items have bids below $200. In addition to items from Elton's personal wardrobe, his husband David Furnish, Donatella Versace and others donated pieces for the Rocket Man Resale.
