Eminem revealed that his The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) is a “concept album“, which appears to be the first of his Hall of Fame career.
With his 12th studio album set to drop on Friday (July 12), the 'Without Me' rapper gave fans a warning and insight into his project which is just hours away.
Slim Shady took to X on Thursday (July 11), where he explained that he'll be delivering a concept album, so the order of the tracklist is intentional, meaning listeners should press play it listen TDOSS in order that he decided to fully understand Em's vision and not bypass.
“Public service announcement: 'death of slim shady' is a concept album, so if you listen to songs out of order they may not make sense,” he wrote. “Enjoy.”
While streaming can lead listeners to play any song they choose, fans flooded in his answers, eager to oblige: “We'll hear in turn boss!”
There has also been plenty of talk about Eminem's latest concept album, or if he has one. The consensus seemed to be that he doesn't have a true “concept album” all the way through, but in 2009 Relapse could be described as the closest thing to it.
However, there have been many instances where his pieces have been conceptually linked in the past, as in the past Revival with “Castle” and “Pick it up.”
The Death of Slim Shady seems to revolve around killing his alter ego trait. The project features 19 tracks, but the features remain unknown.
Em started his release TDOSS with “Houdini,” which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 for his highest chart entry of the decade. It was followed by “Tobey” featuring Big Sean and BabyTron, which debuted at No. 95 on the Billboard Hot 100.
