K-pop band ENHYPEN's dedicated fan group ENGENE will be the focus of an upcoming documentary film, FANMADE: ENHYPENfrom Hello Sunshine, the media company founded by actress Reese Witherspoon.
According to a press release announcing the project on Wednesday (May 8), the feature-length documentary collaboration between Hello Sunshine and Good-People (Trainwreck: Woodstock '99), will focus on the relationship between the group and the fan community, flipping the script on traditional concert films, celebrating “ENHYPEN fans (ENGENEs) and putting them at the center of the concert-making process.”
The documentary will specifically follow five female fans as they create new material alongside the seven-man band, sparking ENGENE to “collaborate and have fun with the joy of bringing their passion to the world.” The film will alternate between the fans and the band, using unprecedented, intimate access to the group on their FATE PLUS world tour US dates.
The parallel paths of the band and fans of the new film will converge at the Galaxy Fanmade concert event, held Tuesday night (May 7) at the AT&T Performing Arts Center in Dallas.
In a statement released with the news, Hello Sunshine head of non-script Sara Rea said the relationship between ENHYPEN and their fans makes for a particularly unique creative documentary experience. “The K-pop ecosystem embodies inclusivity in a way that is both inspiring and narratively rich. This heartfelt and joyful documentary shows the beauty of coming together in a way that the world needs right now,” he said. “While we're used to artists surprising audiences during their concerts, watching these fans create unexpected and thoughtful experiences for the band is something we've never seen before.”
