FINNEAS has returned to announce his sophomore album, For Cryin’ Out Loud!, out October 4th via Interscope Records. As the first preview, he’s shared the title track. Stream it below.
According to a press release, For Cryin’ Out Loud! represents a departure from the artist’s mentality as a bedroom producer toward a more conventional studio setup. The new album was born out of a series of live studio sessions in Los Angeles with some of his closest friends and peers. Pre-orders are ongoing.
The title track is a first taste of this new creative approach, as it features the backing of a brass ensemble. “For cryin’ out loud,” he sings on the chorus. “Your heart is a maze/ You’re running your mouth/ But I’m singing your praises.”
In the Isaac Ravishankara-directed music video, FINNEAS is joined by his partner Claudia Sulewski, who at one point (mistakenly?) stabs him with a kitchen knife. Watch the clip below.
For Cryin’ Out Loud! marks the follow-up to FINNEAS’ 2021 debut, Optimist. As always, he co-wrote and produced sister Billie Eilish’s latest album, the excellent Hit Me Hard and Soft, released earlier this year.
