Two of the most important figures in current dubstep have finally arrived in the studio together after a decade and a half of friendship.
A few months ago, Flux Pavilion revealed that it had completed collaborations with a long list of bass music veterans and rising stars alike. One of the names that caught the eye was Excision, the beloved founder of Lost Lands and Bass Canyon. Considering their prestige for over a decade, it's pretty surprising that they've never worked together in all this time.
That all changed today with the release of “On Forever,” the debut collaboration from Flux Pavilion and Excision. Featuring the inspiring vocals of Saint Raymond, the song is an uplifting anthem and a rare gift from the latter, who is perhaps best known for his heartbreaking originals.
Those suffering from the post-Valentine's Day blues will find “On Forever” the perfect pick-me-up. Exploring the elusive pursuit of dreams and never giving up no matter what, the song's brilliant lyrics are full of optimism and pair wonderfully with its vibrant wobbles and emotive bass drops.
Flux Pavilion says Excision was an important figure in the early days of his career almost two decades ago.
“After almost 15 years of friendship, it seems like it's probably about time we wrote some music together,” he said in a press release. “When I first heard Saint Raymond's voice, I knew it was destined for an anthem and it was an honor to build it with Excision. It's hard to say why it took us so long to work together, Jeff was one of the first. “People signed my music before everything blew up, so there's a real story there. “I guess these things happen when they feel good, and this feels perfect.”
