Who knew Freddy Krueger had good enough taste in rap music to be a fan of Freddie Gibbs?
Indiana rapper Gary hit the infamous Nightmare on Elm Street slasher to help promote a mysterious new project. Apparently, there are billboards around Los Angeles with a picture of Kruger's eyes with “Freddie's Back” on them and the phone number (320) 244-5268 below the quote. When you call the number, Nightmare Freddy picks you up and gives you the following message (or threat, depending on how scared you are).
“So hello rabbits,” Freddy Krueger's voice can be heard saying in the message. “Didn't you miss me? Hmmm? The jagged edge that pierces your mundane reality. Freddie's back, bi—. I can't wait to tear your dreams like a sledgehammer through one Piñata. Oh, what a rush. You are all my children now. Welcome to prime time, bi—es. Wherever you run, I'm omnipresent like a pack of rabid rabbits. You can have a mind of your own, but your own $oul is $old $separately. Besides, they say You only live twicebut the truth is You Only Die Once. Sweet dreams.”
Freddy mentions three of Freddie's other works: Piñata, $oul is $old $separatelyand You only live twice. But then the message ends with, “but the truth is You Only Die Once”, which could be a clue to the name of this mystery film. This has not been confirmed, just a little speculation based on a video of a cartoon rabbit (Freddy's nickname is Rabbit) in a Jason mask posted on an IG account with the handle @youonlydie0nce.
At the top of 2023, Gibbs said XXL that he was working on several projects at the same time. “I'm going to hit you all with some chess — that you all thought you were ready, but you really aren't,” he told the report. “The Alchemist and Madlib aren't going anywhere, so keep that in mind. And me and Boi-1da in the studio now real, real, real heavy.” He also hinted that he might make an R&B album, saying, “I'm making the best music of my life, so there's no reason to stop. And I'm the king of R&B, so I've got to do this album too.''
