A quarter of a century has passed since Dean Parisot's affectionate visit. trip to the stars parody, Galaxy Searchwas released for the first time in theaters. Now, to celebrate the 25th anniversary, a 4K Ultra HD remastering of the cult sci-fi film has been announced.
Set to arrive on December 13 through Paramount Home Entertainment, the re-release of Galaxy Search was remastered under the supervision of Parisot and will be available as a version standard version and like a Limited Edition SteelBook. Both variations will include reflections by Parisot, as well as deleted scenes, the original theatrical trailer, a pre-created Thermian language dub of the film, and more additional content.
Additionally, in addition to 4K Ultra HD (with Dolby Vision and HDR-10), the film's audio has been revamped with Dolby Atmos sound, with the filmmakers striving for “the most immersive home viewing experience.” Pre-orders for the re-release are ongoing.
Originally published on Christmas Day 1999, Galaxy Search has become a beloved film for its comic parody of science fiction tropes and the stellar performances of its cast, which included Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, Sam Rockwell, Justin Long, Rainn Wilson and others.
Last year, it was announced that Paramount+ was developing a Galaxy Search TV series.
