Gangrene is a West Coast producer/producer duo consisting of The Alchemist & Oh No. Both have already made a name for themselves producing for other established hip hop artists both in the mainstream and underground, most notably Uncle Al. However, they have released a total of 3 full length albums and two EPs together over the past 15 years. Almost a decade after supporting Mass Appeal Records You disgust me However, they are finally reuniting for a long-awaited 4th LP.
“Congratulations, You Lose” is a dirty Oh No-produced opener that talks about how no animal is safe here, while “Dinosaur Jr.” finds the Alchemist stripping down the drums likening themselves to large prehistoric bending Tyrannosaurus Rex. The album's only single “Oxnard Water Torture” harshly discusses the return of the gang and that it's not the same drip, but after “The Gates of Hell” with LORDY formerly known as ANKHLEJOHN he works on those heavy pianos that speak of the revelation of all these sad muthafuckas out here.
Moving on from there, “Cloud Surfing” incorporates some woodwinds that have been compared to hip hop's Wright Brothers leading into “Espionage” after the interlude “Free Money” continues the drumming vibes boasting that their tastes are sorted separately and the rings it's like Christmas to them. tree ornaments. “Magic Dust” featuring Evidence throws those ominous chords into the picture talking about the dirty work and how you could do theirs just before the synth-driven “Watch Out” continues to delve lyrically into their hard bag.
Boldy James' “Just Doing Art” strips down the drums once more in defense of smearing your blood and flesh on their canvases, while “You Should Join the Army” leaps over triumphant horns asking who what the hell does he want “Royal Hand” by Flying high 2 it comes down to the penultimate track and finally, the insane yet luxurious “Muffler Lung” completes Gangrene's first offering in 9 years, with the two talking about them categorizing the way they spit as classics.
When you consider the gap between this new LP and their last one, it seems like Gangrene are back as if they never took a break in the first place. mostly hardcore styles of his You disgust me with added elements of jazz rap and abstract lyricism making their way into this new LP, in addition to throwing a hint of drumless into the sound.
