GUTTR is a newly formed supergroup consisting of Ras Kass, RJ Payne & Havoc. All 3 of them have established themselves in hip hop whether it's the debut of the waterproof MC Soul on ice, RJ decimates anyone on the wrestling circuit who dared face him under the original name Reignman or last but not least Havoc is 1/2 of the greatest duo of all time Mobb Deep along with the late Prodigy. Ras & RJ have collaborated a few times before, but they got one of the East Coast's most underrated producers as their third member in time to make a full-length debut.
“Roll Call” featuring Lil' Fame & Method Man is a dirty way to start the album asking where all the real ones in this bitch are, while “Nostalgia” incorporates a soulful sample for the trio to pour one for everyone the fallen soldiers. we lost along the way. The title track featuring Kurupt & KXNG CROOKED takes the cavernous route talking about how it's right to get the cheese but after “RNR Ep. Skit 1″, “Once Again It's On” with Twista giving everyone a hard time in their battle rap shit.
On the other hand, “Different” has a more jazzy flare that begs not to be compared to other artists here, while “Lo-Fi” right after “RNR Ep. 2″ sketch speaks soulfully about liking the vibe. “Stop Playin'” featuring Freeway & Raekwon brings back the pianos to tell everyone not to fuck with them but after “RNR Ep. Sketch 3”, final song “Old Soul” wraps up GUTTR's debut warning that their gossip will leave you with a clear head.
Die hard hip hop fans will really flock to GUTTR's debut album and hopefully this is just the start of more to come from what is recognized as hip hop's premier union. Mainly due to Ras Kass & RJ Payne paying homage to the Prodigy by channeling that old Mobb Deep energy, Havoc sets the musical canvas for an entire album and both lyricists paint their bars, the guests all matching the intensity their
