At this point, we might as well cancel the vacation altogether.
What started as a simple mix that RL Grime uploaded to SoundCloud in 2012 has spawned stadium events and become the official kickoff to the Halloween season for electronic fans around the world. It's been a fantastic 13 years, but the producer revealed that today's release, “Halloween XIII: The End,” will be the last entry in the series.
“13 years of terror,” Grime said. “What a journey it has been.”
Like previous iterations, the mix features originals from their haunted library of trap classics, remixes, previously unreleased collaborations, and even spooky surprises. In addition to the music, each mix also contains a guest appearance by a celebrity.
In the past, we've seen Tony Hawk, Guy Fieri, Shaquille O'Neal, Bruce Buffer, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Hannibal Buress, T-Pain, and many more. Continuing with tradition, the thirteenth and final celebrity guest to join RL Grime is none other than Jack Black.
“I listened to your Halloween mixtape while I was driving here. Dude, it's crazy,” Black says in the intro. “I love it. Is it really true that this is the last one? That must be why it's so hard.”
