After returning from a two-month, 11-country tour accompanying Chvrches lead singer Lauren Mayberry, Heather Nation hits the ground running with a series of single and music video releases, starting with the upcoming “Pool of Mystery.” With sonic familiarity with bands like Hiatus Kayiote and Little Dragon, Heather's sound offers lush dream-pop and alternative R&B; the new single is not lacking in the full, textural and soulful offering it offers its listeners.
'Pool of Mystery', the new single, cries in reverence to the theme of nostalgia, the longing one can feel for the innocence of starting over, being new at something, a cry for the kind of fresh passion and persistence it offers the novelty. You'll hear Nation sing to nostalgia as if it were another person he's conversing with in lines like “falling for a moment/will I ever see you again/you found me in a song somehow/you're with me every day.”
Whether it's the striking lead guitar riff or the dreamy, dynamic vocals that dance over their self-produced instrumentation of colorful synths, '80s-inspired drums and velvety layered guitars, immerse yourself in Nation's sound with 'Pool of Mystery' like the perfect sound. taste of what is to come.
Dream independent alternative. Artist Heather Nation bases her vivid and heartfelt lyrics on exploratory pop/r&b rhythms in a perfect combination of style and depth. At the intersection of artists such as Hiatus Kaiyote, Little Dragon and Kate Bush, her delicate yet powerful voice is the focal point of her intricate compositions, much of it self-produced. In a live show, Heather masterfully layers elements of shimmering electric guitar, atmospheric vocal harmonies and unmistakable r&b rhythms in real time, whether as a solo artist or with her band, creating a dynamic and compelling performance.
More recently, Heather has quickly entered the world of session musicians and sidemen, playing guitar, synthesizer and vocals with the San Diego group Baby Bushka (an eight-piece all-female band that performs the music of Kate Bush) and, most recently, joining the backing band on guitar, bass and vocals for Lauren Mayberry, Chvrches' lead singer. Having worked with countless recording artists, Heather's talents extend into the fields of session singing, harmony arranging, producing and writing songs for other emerging singer-songwriters, running the Bluelight Room, her private home studio, leading tutoring and composition workshops and is passionate about making a positive impact on the world through music.
