Fans love Playboi Carti's gas station scene in collaborator Camila Cabello's “I Luv It” music video, but it almost didn't happen.
Cabello sat down for an interview with Power 106 Los Angeles' Brown Bag Mornings crew, where she revealed that “something happened with [Carti’s] plane,” which nearly caused him to miss the entire shoot of the Nicolas Mendez-directed video. “It got there after the music video was done, so we had to find a place to shoot the video part, and we ended up paying the guy who worked at the gas station to leave it open for us,” the singer said. reminded. “He got there and my mom had the video screen and it was low-key directing, and he said, 'Your mom has the iPad screen, it's so hard.' He was so sweet, my mom was in love with him.”
Ahead of its release last month, Cabello teased snippets of “I Luv It,” which samples Gucci Mane's “Lemonade” and finds interjections from Rihanna. She also contemplated exploring the rare human connection she has with select individuals, which makes her feel like she is in “outer space”, while realizing that the pace is unsustainable and she will eventually burn out. “Certain things in the human realm make me feel like I'm in outer space, and the very rare times I've had incredible chemistry with someone is one of them,” he previously said in a statement about the track's inspiration. . “Part of that cocktail is also the emotional drama between you and that person, and the chaos and the butterflies and the nerves and the passion. It's unsustainable and not peaceful and exhausting, but also, I LOVE IT.”
