Sometimes the stars align perfectly. For Brandi Cyrus, her constellation is the DJ booth.
Entering the booth seemed like a natural progression, but not right away. Cyrus spent her twenties as part of an electropop scene. band, with whom he learned a lot about the nuances of electronic dance music production. After a hiatus from the band, she was drawn to the world of fashion when she began frequenting parties in Los Angeles, often attending events with female DJs.
That awakened an immediate and incendiary passion within her, so she began to learn to spin. Today, he has been a DJ for six years and even landed an official residency in 2024 at Wynn Las Vegas.
Now he's gearing up for another triumph at Sin City, his debut performance at the iconic EDC Las Vegas, one of the largest and most popular music festivals in the country. Country-influenced EDM, colloquially referred to as “YeeDM,” is experiencing an undeniable rise in popularity. Diplo leads the charge at Stagecoach, where his curated HonkyTonk Dance Hall stage featured Marshmello and The Chainsmokers this year. Insomniac Events, the organizer of EDC Las Vegas, is now hosting a Wild West-themed dance center on the festival grounds called “YeeDC Saloon.”
That's where Cyrus will perform. With country music deeply woven into the fabric of his upbringing, thanks in part to his father, Billy Ray Cyrus, she finds solace in his nostalgic melodies and heartfelt lyrics.
Despite her foray into dance music, Cyrus doesn't limit herself to a single genre, but instead combines diverse sounds and styles to offer a dynamic experience for everyone.
“You can always expect to hear a little bit of everything,” Cyrus says. EDM.com in a Zoom interview.
From Whitney Houston's timeless classics to Tim McGraw's soulful melodies, their genre-bending sets promise an exciting fusion of familiar favorites and unexpected delights.
“I always call it a big dance party,” he gushes. “I want everyone to have fun. I want the energy to be high and I'm just looking to have a good time.”
Cyrus is now eager to immerse herself in the magical energy of EDC Las Vegas for the first time. Beyond the vibrant beats and spectacular atmosphere of the festival, what really resonates with her is the sense of kinship and inclusion within the dance music community.
“I think what I like most is how familiar it feels,” he explains. “The dance music community is really very loving and welcoming and loves discovering new artists and new music. I think it's something cool that you don't see all the time.”
From fans to fellow artists, Cyrus says everyone welcomed her with open arms. Through countless shows and festivals, she's learned invaluable lessons, including the importance of three essentials for surviving the weekend: comfortable shoes, staying hydrated, and having good gear by her side.
She also learned to prioritize self-care. When she needs to recharge from fast-paced life on the road, she seeks solace by returning to her home outside of Nashville to reset. Surrounded by nature, her horses and some dogs, she is able to replenish her soul when she feels exhausted.
“It's important to unplug and make sure I'm taking care of myself,” Cyrus says. “At the end of the day, if I'm exhausted, I can't go out and give everyone my energy like I want when I play.”

As her career continues to advance, Cyrus is already looking ahead to her next projects. Currently, she is hard at work producing her own music at the intersection of country and EDM. While she's keeping details under wraps for now, she hints at interesting collaborations with artists from other countries and promises to tease her tracks during her DJ sets.
“If you come to my sets, you'll hear some of that,” he says. “So if I see you at EDC, I'm sure I'll play it for you.”
Cyrus' upcoming EDC debut has all the makings of a not-to-be-missed experience. While she may be a newcomer to the festival's cosmic grounds, she arrives with the energy that encapsulates community and togetherness at the heart of it.
