Jeezy is the latest rapper to give away NPR's Tiny office stage as he delivered a concert that took fans on an unforgettable journey into the depths of the trap houses he once owned through his decorated discography.
The Snowman did his thing Tiny office debut on Wednesday (February 21), which found Jeezy flanked by a group of violins, guitars and keyboards with Howard University students filling the room.
“You could see how I got from there to here Tiny office. I was standing on a small porch, but if you stick with your dreams and stick to your business, you could get anywhere,” he said as he gave the audience words of inspiration to kick off the show.
Jeezy warmed up to Let's take it: Bully motivation 101“Standing Ovation” before moving on to “Air Forces” and “Bottom of the Map” from his multi-platinum commercial debut in 2005, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with first-week album sales of 172,000.
He also reflected on his appearance. “'Standing Ovation' was something special for me because when I walked on that stage for the first time and was recognized for something I love, I couldn't believe that God was so good out of my circumstances,” he shared. “And to see people applauding me for what I went through meant the world, and that's why I kept going and why I'm here today.”
The Atlanta trap pioneer has moved on to a more dope boy TM: 101 anthems with a laid-back live twist, like the Jay-Z-assisted “And Then What” and “Go Crazy.”
Jeezy finished with a rocking rendition of “Everythang.” TM:103 Hustlers Ambition.
“That's it Tiny officethat was my story… Keep that positivity going,” Big Sno said before walking away from NPR.
